Cirrhipathes Anguina

Some of my richest experiences in life come from diving the sea. Often overlooked because of their small size, the most intricate creatures in the ocean are no larger than your thumb. Marine invertebrates such as nudibranchs and wire coral are only visible to the diver who is methodical and attuned to the macro world.

Cirrhipathes Anguina is a species of wire coral which in actuality is as big around as a crayon. The sculptural version below stands almost 4 feet tall, with over 1200 glass polyp arms.
